WhatsApp’s latest update
(v 2.12.367) brings starred messages, rich preview feature for Android phones.
The popular messaging app now supports Bengali and Urdu as well.
The latest update is
available for download from the official Google
Play Store and lists the new changes.
Starred Messages is a
features that was earlier launched on iOS and will let users hold on to any
message and mark a star next to it so that they can find it easily later. This
is WhatsApp’s version of a bookmark. To see starred messages, go to the Chats
Tab, click on Menu and then the starred messages option.
Additionally links on
WhatsApp will now support rich preview. A rich preview shows the headline and a
thumbnail image when you send the link, similar to how links appear when you
share them on Facebook. Users will have the option of not including a rich
preview when sending a link.
Android M users will
also get support for Android Direct share, which lets them quickly choose a
specific chat when sharing content from other apps. For India users, the app
now supports Bengali and Urdu scripts as well.
WhatsApp for Android got Google Drive
support in October. The app has close to 900 million monthly
active users.
