Microsoft considers establishing innovation center in Peshawar

PESHAWAR – Microsoft is seriously considering establishing
a Microsoft Innovation Center in Peshawar in
collaboration with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Sector, it was
revealed in a meeting between a Microsoft delegation and officials of the district
IT board.
The
technology giant already has two innovation centres in Pakistan – in Karachi and
Lahore.
Secretary Science and Technology and Information Technology Syed Zafar
Ali Shah chaired the meeting while the Microsoft allocation was led by Microsoft Pakistan Country Manager Nadeem
Ahmad Malik.
The
meeting discussed in detail the opportunities, potentials and venues of
collaboration and cooperation among the Provincial IT Department, Microsoft and K-P IT Board for the promotion of
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the province with superior focus
on e-governance.
The conference
also debated matters related to collaboration and cooperation with regard to intellectual property rights. It was
agreed in the meeting that a road map will be developed for extending
support to the youth and secretive entrepreneurship of the province in the IT
sector.
